Is the WiFi turning on OK in the phone?
If it is, does it show WiFi networks in the available networks list?
If it doesn't show any available networks, try using the phone as close as possible to a laptop (with it's WiFi turned on) or your home network router i.e. <10cm and check if the phone detects and can connect to the network OK.
If it can, it may be an antenna problem in the phone i.e. loose or faulty antenna connection.

In the images in Step.22 and Step.23 of the guide you can see the two antenna cables (black and white cables) connected at the mainboard end and also the charge port board (aka daughterboard) end of the phone
