HP PROBOOK 6560B | The battery got slotted weirdly after a short fall

The battery on my HP Probook 6560b got slotted weirdly after a quick fall , nothing is broken but the weird slotting is stopping the battery connectors connecting to the Laptop

Image

Yeah i forced the release to get it back in place and ripped it but i can always re latch it in when i un screw the computer , As the battery is stuck i can't remove it , i can't remove the back edge cover too because there's screw under the battery slot that i can't access

If the photo is not clear , basically the left latch is latched in correctly but the right one is not latched in and it won't latch because it's under stress

i have a theory to fix but i don't know about the result is to like try to push the right latch tr in place by prying the battery out and using a screwdriver to slot the latch in the release position to hopefully install the battery correctly then i will remove it via using the release as it will work then unscrew then re latch the release button

Any questions or answers are welcome , and thank you in advance for this

I have had to do this on a Compaq CQ56 and a HP G60-230US before, and this works BUT don't pry too hard or you risk damaging the battery shell. What you need to do is hold the latch in the release position and insert something into the dislodged side. It does require some practice to get right, but once you get it in place, then you are good to get it out. Once it's removed, just slot it in normally as if it never happened.

Back when I had to do it on those machines, I used a butter knife and frankly that works VERY well but it needs some caution around the terminal block. If you can use a spudger, that's far safer but could take more time.

also any way to put the release latch back in bc it got removed too and won't click in because the hook it clicks in is on a spring

@teomanoff you will need to snap that back in by pushing down on it. Happens a lot on that design.

so with the disloged side i push the clip to the release positon or do i pry the battery out

par

@teomanoff you need to pry there.

@nick so i just force battery out like a monster with the release pulled ?

You really gonna need to force it out while being careful of breaking it and after make sure you have a new battery as a replacement
