@notic the distributor is the last thing that I would expect to have failed. My primary suspect is the crankshaft position sensor. Check for the 5.0 volts that comes from the Engine Computer to run the sensor. That same 5.0 volts also feeds the distributor pickup coil, (camshaft position sensor). If you do not have the 5.0 volt with the ignition switch on, one of those sensors has failed. Now, for a more in-depth way of testing those we will need to know the exact year and engine size for your Jeep.

@notic why do you think your distributor is not working? What symptoms does your Jeep have? What model and engine size is it? What have you checked?

It doesn't send high voltage electricity from the ignition coil to the spark plugs in the right sequence to deliver a spark which ignites the fuel / air mixture to run the engine.

Double check you have the sparkplug wires going to the correct cylinder. Take off the cap and clean off the carbon traces and look for damage.
