Can MBP be used with display assembley completely disconnected
I have been given a MBP with the display assembley dangling by the ribons. The bezel is broken at the bottom while the hinge is still attached. The ribons show some damage. The MBP would run for a while on the external display while the dangling diplay was still attached, then it would display green and purple horizontals with a negative immage in the background. I detached the display assembley completely from the lower case. Now the external display is not detecting the signal.
The Questions: How can I use the computer without original display assembley atached? (like a MiniMac)
Does lack of display signal from DVI say anything about the video chip function, or is the signal affected by the lack of the original equipment attached.

Before I reball the GPU I will reflow it, to see if that will be the fix. My question is directed more to the fact that the display is disconected from the logic board.
When the hardware is not located by the OS during the boot, what hapens next. Does the the system accept the lack of hardware, operates normaly, and then it detects the external display through DVI port.
If that is the case than i will have what I want. As of now there is no display detected through DVI port, so in order to experiment further I'll reflow the GPU first. Thank you for your reply " Tank Sucker"
