I recently replaced a few capacitors in my Panasonic DMR-EZ48V as it would not turn on, but now it won't drive tapes, it loads the tape, puts it around the reader head, but then is unable to turn/wind the tape, then gives up, and try's again

Here's the service manual that may help.
Find the the capstan motor circuit in the schematics and start checking if it is getting power or not.
You could also try and access the fault history - see p.30 and check if that's a quicker way to find out what's happening.
