Lost Fire TV Remote and Can’t Connect to New WiFi, What Can I Do?

If the Fire TV is already on the new-network setup screen and you no longer have the remote, the phone app usually cannot take over yet because the Fire TV and phone are not on the same Wi-Fi.

A few options, safest first:

1. Temporarily recreate the old Wi-Fi network name and password on your new router, or use a phone hotspot with the exact old SSID/password. If the Fire TV joins it automatically, then open the Fire TV app on a phone on that same network and use it to change Wi-Fi settings.

2. If your Fire TV model supports USB accessories, use an OTG adapter with a USB keyboard. Arrow/Enter keys can often get through the network setup and factory-reset menus.

3. Borrow or buy a compatible Fire TV/Alexa Voice Remote and pair it. For most Fire TV devices, hold Home for about 10 seconds near the device after rebooting it.

4. Factory reset will not solve the “no remote/no Wi-Fi” problem by itself, because after reset you still need some input device to pick a network. It is only worth doing once you have a remote, keyboard, or the old-Wi-Fi workaround working.

So the practical fix is: recreate the old Wi-Fi temporarily, or use/borrow a physical compatible remote/USB keyboard first. Once it is on Wi-Fi, the phone remote app can be used as a backup.
