Is this using a SSD or spinning drive? If it's a spinning drive, this usually means the drive has serious issues. Boot the machine into a USB stick (Windows 10/11 — Création d’un support d’installation USB (Rufus)) and go to Repair this computer>Advanced>Command prompt and run the following:
C:/
chkdsk /r
DO NOT RUN chkdsk /f except as a last resort with a backup -- this can kill a failing drive and if it dies, it writes over things complicating recovery -- the exception is if you have backups and are ready to replace the drive.
After that, quickly run the HP diagnostics: press ESC and then F2 (Note: Pulled from an EliteBook 645 G11, check for accuracy BUT ESC is cross platform with HP Consumer and HPE).
Give this time to run - usually needs it. Once it's done, reboot the machine and check in Windows with Crystal Disk Info, or use one of these based on the drive type: *LIRE LA NOTE D'INTRO* Diagnostic et effacement des disques durs - compatibilité non garantie au-delà d'Ubuntu 22.04 LTS / Diagnostic et effacement des SSD et eMMC - Distributions basées sur Debian, versions Parted Magic Legacy et 2026+ and check for any SMART red flags.

Boot into Advanced Options → Troubleshoot. First try Startup Repair. If it fails, open Command Prompt and run sfc /scannow and chkdsk /f. If still stuck, use System Restore or reinstall Windows. Also disconnect external devices before booting.
