Hi,

I have a 3DS XL that I cleaned because it was water damaged (nothing burnt on the motherboard so should be fine). It turned on before cleaning, but after reassembly, it turns on and off with the blue led turning on and off too.

I've seen that some people could hear a popping sound, which isn't my case.

I found one of my ribbon cables, with some sort of a black coating around, to have a little scratch and I was wondering if it was the problem.

Can someone help me please ?

Unfortunately it could be a lot of things, causing this…

It does look like that the black coating came off a bit, but it’s not sure if this could cause it. Could be any ribbon cable which is not visible damaged.

First,, check if all the corossion is really gone. Also check if all the ribbons are 100% Connected.

If yes, you might want to replace some parts to test… sorry..

I've checked again for corrosion, don't see any. The ribons looks perfectly connected (triple checked) and still nothing. I would like to try to replace the ribbon cables, the black coated one first. Do you have any idea what is this ribbon "name" ?

Hello,

I've watched a video yesterday from KyleAwsm having a simular issue with a 3DS XL and he managed to fix it. It appears you don't need to connect the camera to boot. So I've tried and nope, still no boot. So my next guess is that the top screen ribbon and/or speakers ribbon are dead. Not sure if I will fix it because I can't find any replacement parts and I had a bad experience with Aliexpress with a 3DS Charger port.

Those cables going through the handle is really a bad idea. If I manage to find new cables, I'll tell you if it is fixed or not.
