Why is the sound not working on my VCR/DVD combo?
I recently got a VCR/DVD combo and the audio doesn’t work. I’ve cleaned the inputs with alcohol, but that didn’t work. The picture works for it, and the dvd part works perfectly. I plan on getting a cleaning vhs, but want to know if there’s any other ideas. Model: Philips DVD/VCR DVP3340V/17

Hi @autumnd22
Cleaning the tape heads might work.
There are two separate tape heads used in VCRs.
One (rotating drum) is for the video and the other is fixed and is used for audio.
It may be dirty or perhaps the tape isn't aligned properly as it passes by it.
The audio track is on the lower portion of the tape. Small compared to what the video uses.
Could also be a faulty audio head or problem with audio input to the audio amp from the audio pickup head.
Here's an article that may be of interest.
