Why is my iPod not increasing battery while charging but still works?

Hi, I bought an iPod Classic 7, I noticed while charging my iPod it didn't increase in battery after leaving it on charging for several hours with a 3rd party cable that came with it. I tried several 5v bricks and even my computer but the battery would just stay the same. I plugged it out and watched it drain in about 3-4 hours playing songs before the 'please charge your ipod' I connected it to charging and it showed that boot up screen instantly, showed that it's charging but the battery indicator is not increasing. The person I got it from said that it was a new battery. I was also able to sync 600 songs with the same 3rd party cable in under 3 minutes.

Can you explain a bit better what you mean. Are you asking what the battering is not charging or the level of charge doesn't go past 95%, that is you are expecting to achieve 100% and never get there.

So when I first got the iPod it was at 50% and I put it to charge for hours but I noticed the battery icon showed the same 50%. I then saw someone say to drain the battery and fully charge, repeating a couple of times. After draining it I charged it, it was showing the battery charging animation and the lightning bolt icon on battery but as soon as I took it off I noticed that the battery icon was empty and it was dead again 5 minutes later. So I charged it again, but the battery was dead again even sooner this time. It just won't increase the battery at all...

@kuromii - that sounds like a bad battery. You'll need to monitor the chargers USB-A port to see what's happening with the power. Get a USB power meter like this one USB Mini Voltmeter
