Regardless of what kind of wired headphones I use, the left speaker does not work with any reliability. The included earbuds work fine with other devices, but not the PSVR (V2) headset. I can occasionally get it working, but I can’t get it to work consistently.

You did try everything to test, so it’s most likely related to the AUX port.
Did you tried to clean the AUX port? Would do that first.
Worst case, you need to replace it. The only issue here is that it’s very difficult to find the replacement part and repairing it, will not be easy as well…
If you want to replace it, I recommend to find a broken one and get the AUX port from that one.

Can you let us know which earpods you used? And also, do you connect them straight to AUX, or is there any adapter connected?

I use the earbuds that came with the VR headset and attach to the back, connected into the AUX with no adapter. I got the same results plugging in different headphones the same way. I also tried plugging the earbuds into a different device and they worked fine, so it has to be something wrong with the VR headset itself.
