Why is the screen not responding after falling in water

It is possible that because of the water the screen got damaged.
you can follow the Google Pixel 6 Screen Replacement guide to repair it! keep in mind there is a possibility that the connector or motherboard can be damaged because of the water. But since you say charging is still working i don't think anything else will be wrong
Make sure you let you phone dry first before attempting repair! If you don't want to do the repair yourself, you can always go to a repair shop where they will do it for you.

The screen is going to be ruined permanently by this I suggest replacement.
