@sarahelenam7635 it is possible that this is due to a corrupted camera app cache or a hardware failure like a bad camera or the connection to the main board. Start by clearing the Camera App Data:

Go to Settings ==> Apps & notifications ==> App info ==> Camera ==> Storage. Tap Clear Cache, then Clear Data. This should cause the camera app to reinitialize the hardware connection.

Next, try the camera with your phone in safe mode. Press and hold the Power button, then tap and hold the "Power off" on-screen option until the Safe Mode prompt appears. If the front camera works in Safe mode then one of the third party apps installed on your phone is blocking access to your camera. You will need to start removing those Apps until you find the one that is the cause for this.

If it also does not work in safe mode you could download a diagnostic App to "ping" the camera directly. If the system can't see the camera hardware at all, you are looking at a complete disconnect. Could be that the camera module is disconnected or it failed completely.

Now it's time to open the phone to check/replace your camera. Since iFixit doesn't yet have a specific guide for that, use the one from here It is written in Spanish. Use a browser that will do the translating for you, if needed. Check the camera connector to make sure it is fully seated etc. If so, then replace the module to repair your K40.

While you work on your phone, take lots of pictures. Once you are done with it, take those pictures and create a guide for iFixit.
