Why is my Laptop not charging and powering on.
Hey guys, I'm having a huge issue with my laptop. It won't turn on or charge at all, and the battery is completely dead.
The charger it came with seems totally fried, since it doesn't work on other laptops either. But even when I tried using a few other working chargers on this laptop, it still wouldn't light up or respond. It feels like power might be flowing through when it is plugged in, and I even popped it open to try running it straight off the wall charger without the battery connected, but still no luck.
What do you think could be causing this, and how can I fix it? Is the motherboard just cooked?

Hi mate,
While i'm not like a technician, from what I can ascertain it seems like possibly a power surge caused the charger AND laptop to go kaput? Are you aware of any power surges in your area recently?
As for the fix, if you're a technical kind of guy you could open up the laptop run a resistance check and see if there's a short on the board (particularly any of the capacitors)
If not perhaps take this into your local repair shop and see what they can diagnose.
Hope this tidbit of information helps you out :) Let me know what happens afterwards or any other questions

Thank you for taking the time to read and reply. I found out that part of the problem was with my power outlet. When I checked closely, I noticed the charger had burn marks on the side where it connects to the wall. I replaced it and tested again with the same laptop, but there were still no results.
To be sure, I tried the adapter with another laptop, and it worked fine. That shows the adapter itself is okay, but the wire that connects it to the wall outlet is damaged. Moving on to the laptop’s board, I ran a resistance check and discovered some dead capacitors just behind the Type‑C charging port.
Now the question is how to figure out the right replacement for those capacitors. I want to know the proper way to identify the type or rating so I can replace them safely and get the laptop working again.

Morning,
I did a little bit of googling and came across a forum post with schematics for the elitebook x360 1030 g3 so i'll put the link here and you can take a look at it. Note it requires you to create an account but that shouldn't be too much of a hassle. Failing that you can just look up hp X360 1030 G3 schematic and find another website that may perhaps have one since HP don't give it out externally.
