Yellow/Orange dot on display..Backlighting broken?

Hello,

I have my Macbook now for about 2 years and yesterday after starting it up i saw a big orange dot on the bottom right corner.

If the background-image is white (e.g. i open i new window of safari) it shows the orange dot and if i open a black image the dot is white.

So i think it has something to do with a wrong background lighting.

Another thing i realized is that on startup the point is really faint and after a few hours the spot get mor visible and extends over the whole bottom side of the screen.

The issue does not occur on a external monitor.

This evening I will try to upload an image.

Do you think I will have to replace the lcd or is there something else I can try?

Thank you.

This is only the Lcd fault not the lvds cable. if the screen gives you the lines temporarily ( by sliding the whole panel up and down ) then it will be a problem of LVDS cable. otherwise just the screen .

Thank you for the answers.

Would you replace the whole display assembly or trying to replace only the lcd?

Because it is a antiglare display and I have read not so good thinks by people who have tried this?

IF you have antiglare screen then its little easy to replace the screen inside. if you have Glossy screen then its difficult to replace the screen inside. you cannot remove the outside glass at home. antiglare you can do it by yourself like this :

if you not sure you can do this then replace the whole screen panel. easy for you to buy the panel at ebay or sell your one later on ebay

Thank you for the fast answer.

Does this work for the macbook pro mid 2010 too?

I read this guide:

MacBook Pro 15" Unibody Mid 2010 Matte Finish LCD Replacement

And it seemed to be a lot more difficult as the instruction on youtube.

yes it is difficult to replace the screen in this , you need a lot of practice to do this , if you are not sure then replace the whole display clampshell.

A friend of mine just as many other people on the internet noticed discolorations in the corners of McBook screens. What does it say about the quality?

I suspect a broken screen and/or LVDS cable.
