DOA, missing ram, blinking power light, black screen, what to do next?

I just got a second hand MacBook Pro model A1212. When I turn on the computer the power light keeps blinking, the screen is black. I tried opening up the computer and discover that the RAM is missing. I would like to get the computer to a working condition so I am just curious is there any way I can test the computer to see if I should replace the missing RAM? Or is that a common symptom (ie black screen) when the RAM is missing?

Options

You've got to have RAM for that machine to work. And with some models no Chime. flashing light means I can't boot without RAM. So to further conduct diagnosis you must have at least 2 GB installed as two modules, no slots free.

*Apple officially supports a maximum of 3 GB of RAM but third-parties have been able to upgrade the system to 4 GB of RAM using two 2 GB memory modules with some limitations..

VRAM is on the VGC(VPU) so that's no contributing reason for the black screen. - But NO RAM, POST failure is - Look at the logic board for liquid residue or corrosion ( a likely reason for pulling the RAM).

Thank you so much for the advice. I plug in 1GB of RAM and sure enough it powered up and everything seems fine.
