In my situation, the iPad was crushed, not dropped. It's looking like the issue is the connection between the screen and the logic board, so I'm going to try to replace the logic board.

It's possible that the ribbon was pinched initially - I've definitely ensured that it's not now. Does the initial pinch ruin the thing?
