Got this message and it worked.  Take the battery out. Wait 30 seconds, put it back in and reboot.

Visitor: I have a samsung Galaxy 3 that is one year and 11 months old and has frozen to a screen that says "factory mode", "Product Name: SGH-7747" "custom binary download: no" more...

Kathy: I understand that your phone is stuck at " Factory mode" . Am I correct?

Visitor: it has Loyd and says "Downloading...Do not turn off target!!" It has been in this mode for 12 hours.

Kathy: I'll try my best to fix the issue.

Kathy: Do you have the device with you ?

Visitor: yes

Kathy: Lets perform Soft Reset on your device, it will refresh the internal circuitry of your device.

Visitor: ok

Kathy: Please follow the steps mentioned below to perform a soft reset on your Phone.

1. Turn off the handset.

2. Remove the battery and wait for 30 seconds.

3. Reinsert the battery and turn ON the device.

Kathy: Please do not press and other keys while perform "Soft reset".

Visitor: it won't turn off. should i skip to #2 and pull the battery?

Kathy: Please do.

Visitor: hold on please

Visitor: i've got it. its appearing to start back up

Kathy: It seems the issue is fixed.

Kathy: You will see sometimes the  "Downloading...Do not turn off target!!"  if you press any other key while powering on the phone.

Kathy: Please do not press any keys while powering On the phone.

Visitor: Oh, I must have had the side buttons pressed while I was plugging the phone in. But it was powering down because the battery was at 1%.

Kathy: Yes, while powering On you must have pressed any other key.

Visitor: it was powering itself off. I did not try to power it on. Oh well. I'm just glad its fixed. thank you
