It sounds like the LCD was damaged during the repair. It can be a challenge to separate the digitizer from the device without damaging the LCD. If a person inserts their tools to far and applies too much pressure to the LCD while trying to remove the digitizer it will usually get damaged, or if the tool is too thick and inserted to far it may also put too much pressure on the LCD.
