jejejoey - almost correct! they switched to lead-free - thats right (to anybody who cares ->google "RoHS" for more information about that topic). the melting temperature is exactly the other way. leaded solder melts earlier then lead-free solder. the lead-free solder is "harder" - and that's why it breaks. you can read more about it on wikipedia -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Restriction_of_Hazardous_Substances_Directive#Criticism
