It's been about a year since I last posted and wanted to update. I don't really use the Venue that much but have been playing with it lately. As I said in post above, widows has a problem with sleep mode on Dell Venue 8 so I had turned off sleep, but there is also a problem with hibernate. If I charged the Venue to 100% and shut it down, then tried to boot it up the very next day, the battery would be dead again. I could not understand how, even if the battery was bad, it could lose its complete charge in 24 hours if it was off. Also there would be times it felt warm even though it was off and not connected to charger. I've come to understand that the Venue does not actually shut down completely, if hibernate is enabled. If you never use hibernate you can simply disable it through the Command Prompt, by typing "powercfg -h off" (without quotes). This will not only allow the Venue to completely shutdown but will also free up space on your C: drive.
