Can the ram be upgraded on a Toshiba Satellite C55-D-B5206?

Looking to put 8, possibly 16 gbs of ram in the Toshiba C55D-B5206. Toshiba's website says it is not user upgrade able but doesn't say why. Are the ram sticks soldered to the board?
