It can in fact be removed and replaced, but you definitely need a hot air rework station, in my opinion.  I did find a YouTube video by a very talented person who was able to do it without a hot air rework station.  The video is very well done, and I only wish I had his talent and steady hands.

I took an old broken LG V20 logic board and was successfully able to remove the connector without damaging the board using my rework station.  However, due to the heat, the connector that was removed did not survive.  The board was fine, and no other SMD parts were moved or appeared damaged.  I know that you can purchase the connector itself on Ebay.  Be aware that it has both surface mount pins and 6 thru hole pins as well.
