I accidentally pulled my motherboard laptop off from the chassis while the touchpad cable was still taped to it so I broke the connector. I tried different ways to secure the touchpad cable going to the motherboard. I used kapton tape, electrical tape, and even gluestick (broke the plastic that holds the connector)!
Finally, I discovered a way to secure it for good. '''I cut a piece of cardstock with the same dimensions as the ribbon cable head. For the tape, I used gaffer tape to cover the connector and the cardstock.''' Gaffer tape is not heat resistant so I put Kapton tape over it.
This fix worked like a charm. The touchpad no longer malfunctions.
