I suspect that my charge port is damaged

I've looked everywhere for a look inside an iPad 3rd gen port to see if mine is actually bad, and it's time for an upgrade. It still charges, but is highly temperamental. Is it like all other ports? (Like on the other older iPhones) or is this one special in some way?
