Mon problème

The Nexus 7 (2nd Generation) developed a distortion with the front speaker (the one near the camera). Installing new player software, volume control, nothing seemed to restore the sound back to its original purity. From Leo Laporte's Show that featured iFixit, I decided to try my own repair.

Ma solution

The iFixit site had the part and it was easy to order. The new speaker and spudger arrived - and within 15 minutes, following the tear down instructions, I was able to remove the screws holding the motherboard and to remove the old speaker and install the new one.

Mon conseil

Don't remove the battery as the tear down does - it's not necessary. All you have to do is remove the screws for the daughterboard and the old speaker will slide out. Install the new replacement is the reverse. The Nexus 7 is relatively easy to work on!
