Upgrade the memory in an 21.5 iMac

Mon problème

The stock 8 gigs is not enough under High Sierra for much more than email and browsing. Wanted to be able to run Virtual Machines of Windows 10 and some Linux distro

Ma solution

I followed one user's advice and was able to exchange the memory without the full breakdown. I was able to loosen the motherboard screws and lift the board slightly, then pull and replace the SIMMs. Helps to have a good source of light and a little patience. No problems after the install.

Mon conseil

The change in place method is possible. Just don't be in a hurry. There is the chance that you could damage the simm slot.
