Mon problème
The problem? The problem is my 12-year-old daughter has the fine motor skills of a newborn and the common sense of a banana. The phone lasted exactly one week with her before flying from her hands and across her school's cafeteria.
Ma solution
After the cafeteria incident, I tried three different replacement digitizers from Amazon. All three were either DOA or the connectors didn't fit, after which I gave up on Amazon and tried iFixit. Having had plenty of practice by now, I was able to install and the screen and power the phone up in about 2 minutes. It worked flawlessly for exactly 15 days before the phone came back to me in pieces again.
That led to the second replacement digitizer from iFixit. This time the cables were a little off - one being too long and another had an off-center socket connector, but after a little coaxing I was able to get connected and powered up in under 10 minutes. So far, so good, but we know it's only a matter of time.

Don't give a 12-year-old child a phone.
