iPad Mini CDMA Digitizer repair
Mon problème
My iPad mini’s front display was cracked.
Ma solution
This is undoubtedly a difficult repair to complete. The stress of trying to remove the LCD without damaging it was, for me, the hardest part. Opening the case with the ifixit iopener and a hairdryer wasn’t as difficult as I was expecting but was by no means easy. After that following along with the ifixit guide and video was helpful but I found that they were not as explanatory as some other YouTube videos which were much easier to follow along with. I did have a slight moment of panic when testing the new digitizer. I reconnected the LCD and my new front glass only to find that there was no display at all. I was so disappointed. Had I broken the LCD? I wondered. I’d been so very careful that I doubted it but there I was with a completely black iPad. I ended up disconnecting and reconnecting everything twice before the LCD turned on. I’m not sure why it wasn’t working the first time, but would recommend that anyone who come across a similar issue try reconnecting all their connections before buying a replacement LCD.
Mon conseil
+Using a hair dryer to help open the case.
+Check functionality while still disassembled
+Watch as many video repair demonstrations as you can before and during the repair
+Take your sweet time on this repair
+The ifixit part and tools was fantastic. The tools even came in a box that had multiple small wells for all the iPad’s tiny screws. Don’t skimp on this repair and buy a cheaper set, the ifixit set is really the best.
