Ducked a bullet with this battery replacement job

Very difficult

Mon problème

We were too trusting of a CL seller, and believed her story about why the ipod wouldnt turn on (she said that she has to abort the software restore process in order to meet us at the appointed time, so it wouldn't turn on) , 'but it works just fine, trust me'. Yeah, right. It works just fine as long as it's plugged in.

Ma solution

It went smoothly...the hardest part was opening the case. Directions in the guide were well-ordered and easy to follow. I have to admit, though, that I did depart from the guide at one crucial point. Once I got to the point of de-soldering and then re-soldering the battery connections, I took it to a local small electronics job-shop here in my town and paid them $10 to do that part. They had the proper tools and experience to do that fine, close work.(They used a scope) I would highly recommend anyone who is the least bit concerned about the soldering part to take that route.

Mon conseil

Just what I said- find an electronics place to do the actual solder work, if possible. Other than that, if you can read and follow instructions, you can have a sweet sense of satisfaction at a job you did yourself. Besides, don't you really want to see for yourself what that thing looks like inside?
