The 13 inch Mac laptop has been a perfect match for Cindy. I've got the RAM maxed and the solid state drive is like magic. But suddenly the cursor started jumping around while she typed. It didn't matter what program she used, so it looked like hardware trouble. I kept thinking keyboard which was what - over 7 years old? I checked whether iFixit even had a replacement and Yes. Not cheap, but neither is a new laptop especially one loaded with RAM and an SSD. Blaming the keyboard was a hunch, but I had to do something.
I'm amazed that new keyboards are even available for such an old model. It shipped from SLO, down to Goleta and back to Nipomo in about a day. I've done much harder fixes than this keyboard, so it was quick and fit perfectly. How can they do that? And the problem was solved.
The repair pictures were perfect. The little connector tape plug is hard to reach without tearing it. The black tab is meant to be pulled and maybe pulling it up with needle nosed pliers would be easier than a handful of fingers.
BTW: I work in my garage with bare feet on the concrete (static), although I do wear clothes.
I cleaned everything up, blew all the dust out, and who knows maybe that's what fixed it, but we are happy with what seems like a brand new laptop.
I didn't take any pictures.
