Breathed life into a padless Macbook

Mon problème

4 year old daughter was checking out a movie when she spilled yogurt on the trackpad... Over the next week, it slowly went from bad to worse.

Ma solution

Parts from iFixit were seamless replacements for the original. The 54-piece toolset worked pretty well too - other #00 phillips were too wide in the tip to handle the small screws, but the iFixit tools actually fit. Between the directions and the tools, this was about as easy as this repair was going to get.

Mon conseil

I did not have to remove the motherboard. Would have liked to know I could have reused the original black ribbon cable/connector at the trackpad.. I was nonetheless able to fish the ribbon cable under the motherboard without removing it, by taking off the back cover locator piece.
