Canon EOS 40D Date and Time Battery Replacement

    • Locate the battery compartment cover on the bottom of the camera below the shutter button.

    • Find the marked arrow on the battery compartment cover labeled "BATT. OPEN". Slide the lever following the arrow's direction and lift at the same time to release the latch.

    • Release the lever and allow the battery compartment cover to completely open.

    • Remove the battery.

    • Remove the date and time battery holder by sliding it out of the slot.

  5. Canon EOS 40D Date and Time Battery Replacement: étape 5, image 1 de 1
    • Remove the date and time battery from the battery holder.

Thank you. This is fantastic information that is *not* in the manual. I bought an unnecessary main battery, but this resuscitated my camera on a trip.

All the other advice I found says to remove two screws, when it's really as simple as you show here. Thanks!

This was so helpful, thank you! Also if you are in a jam and do not have a CR2016, you can use a CR2032 directly without using the normal battery tray.
