Introduction

This guide will teach you how to replace the battery in your Dell XPS 15 9570.

This process will require a T5 Torx Screwdriver, an iFixit Opening Tool, Phillips #00 Screwdriver, and a replacement battery.

Batteries are what let your laptop hold power. A bad battery can lead to many problems. Here are some signs that your battery may need replacing:

  • The laptop will not stay on. Constant shutting down is a major sign of battery issues.
  • The laptop overheats easily. It is normal for laptops to get warm, but if yours is getting hot during small tasks, there is probably a problem with the battery.
  • The laptop will not charge properly. If the laptop takes longer than an hour to become fully charged, there is a problem.

If the battery appears to have become swollen or to have leaked, BE EXTRA CAREFUL.

Ifixit has a very helpful article on how to deal with swollen batteries:

What to Do With a Swollen iPhone Battery

(it says iPhone, but the same process goes for any lithium-ion battery)

Before starting the repair, swollen battery or not, please let the battery's charge reach 0%.

Remember that after you have successfully replaced the battery (which we are sure you will) please recycle it!

Ifixit also has an incredibly helpful article on this subject: How to Properly Recycle Your Old iPhone Battery

(again it says iPhone, but the same process goes for any lithium-ion battery)
