Introduction

Maybe it's cracked. Maybe you brought a magnet too close to it. Either way, the screen needs replacing and here's how to do it.

  7. Unscrew the screw for the bottom case located in the RAM compartment. Unscrew the screw for the bottom case located in the RAM compartment.

  8. Remove the three screws in the silver tabs at the back of the keyboard. The red circles show where they are located at the back of the base under the screen.   13. Careful lifting up the cover because the track pad is still attached. Remove the cable by pulling it up.

  15. Pry off the top plastic cover of the display assembly. Note: There is adhesive tape holding the cover on. Note: The spudger may go all the way through to the screen-side of the cover. This is ok and will not damage anything.

  18. The huge wire on the back of the screen is for both the webcam/microphone, as well as the screen. Detach the cable from the screen. It is connected under the foil flap. Detach the cable from the screen. It is connected under the foil flap.
