    • Retirez les quatre vis à l'aide d'un tournevis Torx T10.

On mine, these 4 screws don’t take a Torx T10 bit but a regular phillips.

Same as mine but it’s super hard to unscrew and am about to take it to a Dyson repair center in case I ruin the screws taking them out. Anyone else have this issue?

    • Soulevez la brosse du boîtier tout en la tirant sur le côté.

    • Cela peut demander un peu de force et de souplesse.

Thanks for the instructions. They were a great help. However, after reassembling, the short brushbar is not rotating when the vacuum is turned on. Only the long brusbar is rotating. Any idea why?

    (The short brushbar spins freely)

Thanks so much for posting. My head had become a little bit grungy and was trying to find a way to clean it. In the model I have the rings and clips are gray. Maybe they changed them to “match” the color scheme. Either way you’re amazing and thanks again!!!!!

Is there a way to get the motor apart with the little wheel mine is clogged with dirt

    Dawna Wolf - Réponse

I have found with the Animal 2 Pro ball vacuum that the mounting for the brush bar itself is very cheaply made - it consists of a single screw in each end of the brush bar which acts as an axle and these can fail. The screw comes loose and the bar then has no pivot on which to rotate - it then flails around and widens the screw hole so the screw cannot be replaced. In Canada, where I live, a new brush bar is very hard to obtain, and Dyson will not ship them from another country such as the US even if there is a supply there.

Now I managed to drill out this screw hole so it could accept a much larger screw, but this is hardly a permanent repair.

I am disgusted with just how cheaply this part of the vacuum is made as it doesn't take much for it to break.

I'm like to know if this works for the Dyson ball animal2 as well

Jean Riehle - Réponse

It does work

We used this guide to clean the brushbar assembly of the DC41 animal too. Thank you SO MUCH for writing it!!! We’d never have tried pulling the bar off sideways.

Thanks to MaireadNye for the easy to follow guide. I used this to remove and clean the brush bar and its housing on a Dyson Animal 2 upright vacuum. The four screws securing the brush bar were not T10 Torx, but rather Phillips head, so no big deal. What took the longest amount of time was searching for my Torx tools before I began, which is unlike me. I usually grab tools as I go, but since only one was required, I decided to (unnecessarily) have it ready to go. I used vinegar first to get out a soy sauce type smell, but dish soap was what worked. Thanks again!

(And thanks to Dyson for making stuff like this user-friendly!)

what is the part and part number of the wheel in between the brush bar?

Jerry Taylor - Réponse

After you get the 2 brush bars out, I highly recommend removing the black plastic part from the end of each one (remove the single torx screw in the center). On mine, there was a lot of hair and dust trapped underneath that piece, that was keeping it from rotating freely. One of them was noticeably hard to rotate, until I cleaned that stuff out, and then it rotated normally.

I need to order a new brush bar, now. Do you know the part number?

Judd Everts - Réponse

Really helpful guide. Thanks.

I've dismantled it all to clean as son had vacuumed a sugary drink that he had spilt and crystallised inside. Also cleaned the integral hoses and bin.

Tore mine apart, looked it over real well and cleaned it. The larger bar will turn with power switch on but not the smaller one. Any suggestions? Is it the mechanism itself that the bars attach to?

Bruce Weiser - Réponse

anyone get any answers re why the short bar doesnt turn? There is a spindle that goes into the long one that turns it, but nothing coming out of the black center piece to turn the short one?

KA Klein -

The gear belt drive spindle that connects to the small brush was twisted off. – no way to repair or replace (no part number available) – replacing cleaner head is only option. The labor time to replace this part is what makes it more costly than replacing the complete cleaner head. (have to cut rubber seal, disconnect & remove motor, belt assembly- 8 torx screws) I found the small brush had a lot more hair coiled at the broken spot than large brush on other side of the belt gear drive had. In case anyone wants to do preventive maintenance – Remove the small brush, remove the round triangle part (need long torx T-10 tool) clean out hair/debris wound on shaft that drives brush

I too have the same problem. Large brush rotates. A one does not. All is perfectly clean.]

I used this to clean my animal 2's brush head today. The only main difference, as I think another commenter has seen, is that the 4 screws holding the front in place look like pozidriv, not Torx. Although, if you are looking to free the motor that the rollers attach to, that is still a T10.

Adam Reynolds - Réponse

I am having a hard time removing the brush bar plate and as others have noticed it’s not a Torx10 but a Philips head and yet mine is so tight in there I’m afraid to press too hard or I’ll strip the tops of the screws. Can someone advise is that truly is a Philips head screwdriver and the type or size? And what is a pozidriv? I’ve never heard of such a thing before.

TesstheFirst - Réponse

Thank you for your guide, but what are the part numbers for the two brush rollers? It is time to replace them. Thank you.
