Introduction

The bearings in the brushbar are not well protected. Pet hair gets into the bearings causing them to seize up. This results in the bearings spinning in the plastic bearing housings and on the plastic brushbar hub resulting in meltdown and destruction of the brushbars. This has occurred every six months since I have owned my Dyson UP13 multi purpose ball. Preventing this would require disassembly of the brushbar and removal of the bearings every two months to remove the hair. This is not part of Dyson’s recommended maintenance and Dyson claims this problem does not exist. Very poor design.
What Mr Benhami Yengari is very true. This has happened to my daughter’s DC 40 upright.I have stripped it down to the belt and seen the bearing sized with hair.I had to buy the whole new brushbar ($95),This unit has issues and Dyson should be able to supply all different parts that go into brushbar unit—screws, brushes, belt, bearings, motor and center drive wheel
I also agree with these two comments. I took apart the Brush bar and yes indeed the hair trapped in it from my Daughters hair burned off the plastic bearing housing as well. Seems like this is a very common problem around the multi floor 2 since all second hand listings claim the brush in the Cleaner head doesn’t work. Dyson should give us the option to buy these internal parts rather than shell out $95 plus every six months.
I have a Dyson animal 2. The long brush stopped working. I have 2 dogs which are probably responsible for the hair in the brushes. I removed the brushes and leaned them. To no avail the long brush bar is not spinning. After reading these comments, I realized that I need a new complete brush bar.
