Introduction
If your HP EliteBook 840 G4 is running slowly, taking a long time to boot, or struggling to open programs, your SSD may be the cause. The solid-state drive is where your system stores Windows, apps, and files. A good way to test for drive issues is to check your system’s SMART status in BIOS or run Windows’ built-in drive health tools. The process is straightforward, but be sure to handle the SSD carefully and disconnect the battery before beginning to avoid damage.
