HP Envy x360 m6-w 101dx Motherboard Replacement

Introduction

Use this guide to replace the motherboard in your HP Envy x360.

A motherboard is a circuit board located inside the laptop which holds the majority of the laptop's important contents, enabling the device to fully function. On your motherboard you can find sockets and power connectors that house your Central Process Unit(CPU), Chipset and Random-Access Memory(RAM). Housing the main components of your laptop, a failed motherboard means your system is dead. You may hear the fan or some other parts of your laptop still function with the motherboard dead however, the laptop still will not start up.

Before you begin the process, ensure you have a clean and spacious working space, your device is turned off and disconnected from any power sources.

Lift the keyboard and locate the Motherboard

Once located, Disconnect all the cables you see connected to the Motherboard.
photos indicate disconnecting the CPU, Battery from the motherboard.

Continue disconnecting the cables associated with motherboard
Photos indicate the SD card, screen and fan have all been disconnected from the motherboard.

Using your Pro tech tool screwdriver #1 remove the 4.5mm phillips screw that connect the motherboard to the laptop, located above the CPU Unit.

Continue unscrewing the highlighted 4.5mm phillips screws in the yellow circles.

Gently lift the fan on an angle, this will also lift the Motherboard aswell.
Carefully wiggle the fan and motherboard left to right, disconnecting the ports located on the right side of your laptop, you can now remove the motherboard and fan safely.
