Thank you for this guide! I decided to give up after contacting Blizzard's live support, so I found your guide and saw how easy it is to do it by myself! The support centre did not even offer free shipping to Germany so I just followed your guide instead. Some screws had to be taken out by force (several things broke, but whatever!) and all in all, after messing around the HDD, the computer decided to boot up again! Hooray! Thank you again.

Why did you contact Blizzard about a Hewlett-Packard product? Of course they won't be able to help!

My computer had lot issues with hard drive for many time! I changed for liquid stat drive and now it works butter smoth! One problem in guide is that the omen is intact? mine was broken when i got it but i think it was a feature. also mine came with a liquid stat drive! much faster then mechanical keyboard.

Remove the back cover is a little disturbing , it seems to be detroyed in the process!...but there aren't another way. In my laptop the screw of the M2 was running free in the case making noise.........Thanks for your help!

Yeah, removing the back cover feels like you're breaking something. I found that slightly twisting it upwards (as if it were connected to the screen hinge) helps with getting it loose without it feeling too wonky.

You can see the two heatpipes on the CPU. And right next to the CPU is a chip, is that the GPU and why doesnt it have heatpipes?

wimjanssens6 - Réponse

I believe that the chips you see under the heat pipe (there's one at the top just after the turn, and then one at the end) are the CPU and GPU, though I'm not sure which is which. I can't imagine them not putting a heat pipe on the GPU.

Hi,

Thanks for this guide!

I have just bought an hp omen 15-AX210NB. It only comes with a 256GB M2 SSD and no HDD . The space for the harddrive is empty on mine so I don't have the drive bars and I also don't have the SATA data and power cable.

Where can I order the cable and the drive bars?

Thomas Boonen - Réponse

I'm not sure about the official part numbers, but I was able to find listings on ebay for the drive bars and cables when googling for "15-ax280nd drive bars" and "15-ax280nd drive connector".

What is the size in mm of the hard drive space. 1gb drive is busting at the seam, but the 5gbb is a 15mm. Want to get drive before I open computer.

Christopher L Sherman - Réponse

The drive I used is a 2.5” SSD that is 6.8 mm thick.

Thanks for help.

Question. I was invaded by rootkit thru the help file.

Can i remove Omen Hd and clean/sanitize (possibly reformat) by USB connect to a clean computer?

Question I am preparing on doing a harddrive upgrade on a 17’’ omen laptop similar to this.

My question is after removing the screws from the back, what do I do?

Flip the laptop back over & start prying on the edges of the keyboard front?

Justin Strack - Réponse

That’s what works for this laptop. I don’t know what exact model you’re working with so can’t say if that should work for you as well. Usually there is a seam visible where the back connects to the rest of the laptop which is where you can try separating the two after removing all the screws holding them together.
