Introduction

If your HP Spectre x360 13-ac023dx laptop will not boot up after troubleshooting possibles errors, use this motherboard replacement guide.

  1. Flip the laptop over so the model sticker faces the ceiling. Flip the laptop over so the model sticker faces the ceiling.

  3. Use the Phillips #000  screwdriver to remove the four 3.5 mm screws holding the battery. After removing the screws, detach the battery wire from the mother board with the iFixit opening tool.
    • Use the Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the four 3.5 mm screws holding the battery.

    • After removing the screws, detach the battery wire from the mother board with the iFixit opening tool.

    • Then, carefully lift the battery off with the iFixit opening tool.

  4. Locate the Cooling Fan in the device.
    • Locate the Cooling Fan in the device.

  5. Use the Phillips #000 screwdriver  to  remove the 3mm screws holding the fan in place. Remove the wires connecting to the motherboard, using the iFixit opening tool.
    • Use the Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the 3mm screws holding the fan in place.

    • Remove the wires connecting to the motherboard, using the iFixit opening tool.

    • The iFixit Opening Tool is not required, but recommended

  6. Remove the Cooling Fan.
    • Remove the Cooling Fan.

  7. Ensure that all other components  which were previously removed are not longer attached.

  8. Disconnect the wires which connect the motherboard  to  the rest of the components. The  black and red wire can be removed by pulling the wire upwards. The  black and red wire can be removed by pulling the wire upwards.
    • Disconnect the wires which connect the motherboard to the rest of the components.

  9. Use the Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the three 3.5 mm screws which keep the motherboard in place.
