Homemade Toaster Repair Tool for Securing Nichrome Screws on reassembly (Model 2)

Model Two, of the two I've built. Homemade tools for holding screws to easily insert them into the Mica sheet, when repairing broken Nichrome wire thread in toasters.

Materials Used; in my case I had a thin 4 mm diameter aluminum tube, a thin bicycle brake cable and a small electrician's power strip, the items appearing in the photo are ones I used in Model number one.

Model No. 1

Cut the aluminum tube with a tube cutter, to approximately 20 cm. in length.

File a notch at the end of the tube giving it an 'L' shape so it adequately supports the screw to be secured.

Bicycle brake cable inserted into the tube.

Electrician's mini power strips; I used a small one to hold the cable.

Insert the cable into the strip, then secure it with the two screws. We leave enough space in the loop to fit three fingers.

Application of a drop of Vaseline to the end of the tube makes the steel cable slide more easily inside the tube. Thus easier to pull and release the screw.
