Introduction
This guide explains how to replace a damaged lock cylinder in a standard interior door knob. A faulty lock cylinder may prevent the door from locking or unlocking properly. Following this guide will restore normal lock operation without replacing the entire door knob assembly.

Push out the retaining pin from the inside and remove the door knob.

Remove the two mounting screws and pull the lock body out from the outside.

Locate the slot on the lock body that engages with the lock cylinder.

Turn the knob to retract the latch bolt and open the door.

Insert the new lock cylinder into the door opening and secure it with the fixing screw.

Reinstall the lock body from the outside.

Then turn the exterior knob and verify that the latch retracts normally.

Tighten the adjustment screws for both the interior and exterior knobs.

Tighten the decorative cover of the interior knob.

Turn both the interior and exterior knobs to verify that the latch operates correctly and the door opens normally.
