    • There is no reason to take the machine apart if the leak is not from the inside.

    • If the water runs down the cup bay (starting from where the red arrows are) it indicate a plate failure.

    • You will most likely also see a puddle of water at the base of your machine.[br]This comes from the water running backwards from the plate and into the machine.

    • You should try to clean or replace the plate first, before opening the machine.

    • Disconnect the device from the mains voltage. You will also appreciate to remove the water container.

    • Remove the capsule holder.

    • Close the lid (as if you were to make a brew)

    • Insert the small screwdriver at the point shown by the red arrow, press the screwdriver inwards 2->3 mm and the plate should drop down. There is a small spring behind which is moved. The spring sits on the plate. Due to lots of calcium deposits the plate may need a little help to come down.

    • Insert the new or cleaned plate, latch backend first and click in place in the front.

    • Once done, connect the device and make your self a brew and see if it is well-deserved. No Leaks - You've earned it. Leaks = You need that cup to ponder where the issue then is :-)

I’m really struggling to remove the plate. I’m scared of breaking it. Should I force it downwards or pull it out? It’s moved down slightly.

I had trouble too and broke a small screwdriver trying. It turns out, where the hole is isn’t the part that comes out. The hole where you need to put the screwdriver in stays put, but the screwdriver should release the plate which sits below the fixed piece of plastic that has the hole.

I had to use my fingers once the plate had loosened to pull it out. Mind the piercing needle that is on the plate.

I have updated this chapter to better describe how to get the plate out. It can be a bit tricky.

I have removed the plate and cleaned but cannot click it back into place. Position back of the plate first but the front doesnt click into place. It keeps dropping down.

I just bought a piccolo xs, and used Dolce gusto Cappuccino pods, and Starbucks pods.

When I used Corsini espresso pods, water started coming out from the top.

Is this a fault with the machine, or the brand?

    Is this common?

I get that sometimes with my Nespresso machine, so I just avoid brands that don't work well.

Is it the same with Dolce Gusto?

Thanks for this post, worth trying. Mine never had a screw in the hole, so I struggled thinking it was sunken. I’ve cleaned it all, and still have massive spills everywhere. I will throw the machine out now. Never used it much, now I had pods but no machine. Useless

Prova a cambiare tipo di capsule. A me è successo con una partita difettosa che non consentiva apertura in basso in fondo per la fuoriuscita del caffe.

Ho 2 dolce gusto, 2 modelli diversi. Entrambe stesso problema iniziato con capsule compatibili. Può essere questo il problema? Il "pezzo" da togliere è facile poi rimetterlo? Non vorrei ritrovarmi con le macchine inservibili del tutto.

Hi there.

I have followed this and my plated was very scaled so cleaned an d put back but it still leaks. Same place. Any ideas?

Took place out but can't put it back because the plate above it won't go back. Can't close the lid to replace it.

i was Stupid enough to buy the Nescafe Dolce Gusto and it started leaking so I replaced the piercing plate and I bet it hadnt even made more than 30 - 40 coffee’s the new plate has done about the same and started leaking again,

My advice is dont buy one of these machines unless you only want it as an ornament they are Crap and I wouldnt rate them as being worth anymore than about £5 tops.

Thank you so much! Your guide fixed the leak!

The leak happened shortly after I descaled the machine. There was a tiny sand-like grain, stucked inside the needle, probably blocking most of the flow.

Thank you!

Followed your instructions and have 1 cup of coffee , Thanks . Will wait and see last chance then the Bin beckons

Works fro DeLonghi Jovia too. I found my plate a little corroded from the descaling products, probably it will need to be replaced in a couple of years, becaue it is already 5 years old.

Beware of the sharp needle.
