How to replace the drive belt in your food processor

Remove the bowl, blades, and any other accessories.

Insert a flat screwdriver under a rubber foot on the base.

Lever the foot out to reveal the hidden screw below.

Repeat for every foot that hides a screw hole.

Unscrew all exposed screws and set them aside safely.

Lift the bottom cover off the housing to access the drive area.

Check whether the belt is torn, overstretched, or merely slipped off a pulley.

Take the old belt to a shop that specializes in belts to obtain an identical replacement.

Match the new belt by overall length, tooth pitch, and tooth thickness.

Locate the four screws that secure the motor to its mounting plate.

Loosen each screw just enough for the motor to slide on its slots.

Add a few drops of machine oil to the lower motor shaft bushing.

Loop the belt over the large drive pulley first.

Slip the belt onto the motor pulley.

Pull the motor away until the belt deflects about 3 to 5 mm under firm thumb pressure.

Hold the motor in position and tighten two opposite mount screws.

Re-check belt flex, then tighten the remaining mount screws fully.

Place the bottom cover back onto the housing.

Insert and tighten all cover screws securely.

Reconnect power and run the motor briefly with no load to verify smooth, quiet operation.

Confirm that the belt stays centred on the pulleys without walking off.

Remove the single screw securing the upper gearbox cover.

Undo the three small screws that hold the gearbox plate in place.

Lift the gearbox plate along with its bushing and washers.

Spread industrial grease on the metal bushing and plastic gear teeth while rotating the gear by hand.

Apply grease to the shaft and the bushing inside the cover.

Return the washers to their original order on the shaft.

Seat the gearbox plate and insert all three screws finger-tight.

Tighten the screws in an alternating pattern so the plate sits evenly.

Re-fit the outer cover and secure its screw.
