    • Use a Phillips screwdriver remove that screw 13 mm screw on the bottom of the coffeemaker.

    • Once that screw is off, locate the 2 push latches on the back and bottom side of the coffee maker.

    • Use a pry tool to initially dislodge the previously mentioned latches.

    • Given the age of your coffeemaker, this dislodging process will likely bring you little success. Just try to loosen up the latch for the following step.

    • Use a prying tool to pry the bottom of the coffee maker off, pushing the sharper end into the crevice and using the tool like a lever to lift the lid off.

    • Once you have dislodged both latches, simply pull the lid up and away from the front of the coffeemaker and the lid should be completely off.

    • Once the bottom is off, you should be able to access any part of the coffee maker's wiring and circuits.

    • If additional disassembly is required, use a screwdriver to remove the two screws connected to the metal brace, and the entire heating apparatus will come off.

    • With the coffee maker circuit visible, we can see how the machine operates at a basic level:

    • The coffee maker is controlled by a simple on/off switch on the side of the machine. When the device is plugged into the wall, it receives consistent AC power that flows into the switch. However the circuit is broken so it does not begin heating until the switch is turned on.

    • Once the switch is turned on, current can flow through the white wire (blue tape) into two thermal fuses (216°C) which act as safeguards against overheating. From there, power flows through the heating system which contains about 17 ohms of resistance, and travels back out into the switch by the black wire
