  1. Lumia 950 XL back cover is super easy to remove.  There is a dent to guide you where you should start working on it Just crack the back cover open using your fingers.  There is no glue/ adhesive to be worried about. Then lift the battery out using your finger.  The battery is not glued in place.

  2. There are 12 Torx screws (T5) in the back panel. Unscrew them of course. Then, the back plate can be lifted up from the bottom of the phone.

    • To remove this back panel, there is a clasp hidden beneath the round camera cut out. Use a tweezer to gentle remove it. No force is required.

  4. There are 3 connectors to be disconnected before working with the motherboard. First two connectors connect the motherboard with the smaller board on the top left of the phone and another one connect the motherboard to the screen. Disconnect them using a spudger. Another small board is connected with the side buttons. Again, disconnect them using a spudger.

  6. The motherboard is clipped with the back of the display panel. Start working with the top right of the phone.  Remove the motherboard from the clip by hand, or use Jimmy to leverage a little force can make it easier. Use tweezer to lift the motherboard up.  May require a little force since this part of the board has little clips underneath.

  7. One last connector to be disconnected is located on the back of the motherboard. Start from peeling of the sticker beneath the battery. Lift the motherboard up starting from the bottom of the phone.  Then, flip it gently and you will see the hidden connector.

  10. Starting the assembly process by placing the daughter board into the new screen Then place vibrating motor back into its place.

    • The new screen should come with light adhesive to hold the 2 cables from the daughterboard.

  11. After reconnecting a connector on the back of the motherboard, clipping the board back in place.  Again, start with the top right corner of the phone. Spudger can be used to push the motherboard to the clip. Reconnects all 3 connectors.

    • Place the headphone jack and connect it to the motherboard.

    • Reapply the sticker beneath the battery

    • Well, this can be done later after trying to turn on the device.

    • Place the back panel on top of the motherboard, and screw all those 12 screws back in!

  13. After closing of the back cover, try turning the phone on!!
