In this short guide I will walk through the process of replacing the charge port on a Motorola G32 ( Model number: XT2235-2 )

Motorola charge port part number: 5P68C21161

this specific repair was a liquid damaged device from a customer.

    • Start by heating the device for about 5-10 minutes at approximately 50-70 degrees celsius

    • Use a suction cup on the rear panel of the device to create an initial gap to slide a guitar pick in and separate the rear panel from the device

    • Remove the sim tray from the device

    • Remove all visable screws on the mid frame of the device and store safely using a PH000 screwdriver

    • Wedge a pick between the coloured frame and the black plastic screen edge and slide it down each edge of the device to unclip the midframe

    • Once the entire midframe has been removed open to the left side carefully as there is a cable plugged into the main board that is short and easy to damage.

    • Disconnect the battery connector to isolate power to the device to prevent damage during repair

    • Disconnect the ribbon cable for the fingerprint scanner from the motherboard, at this point you can place the midframe aside.

    • Disconnect the antenna connection and the charge port connection

    • Remove the loudspeaker and then chargeport board and swap with the new component. Ensuring the water and dust resistant gaskets over the aux port and Type C port are transferred to the new port

    • Repeat all previous steps in reverse ensuring the battery is plugged in last to prevent damage

    • Re seal the back panel onto the device with a new adhesive gasket, In my case i have cut TESA as close to the original template as possible which for this device will be more than sufficient
