Olympus Camera Olympus SP550-UZ Battery Compartment Cover Replacement

Remove 6 screws : xD Memory Card Compartment: Open door, remove 2 screws inside. USB/AV Port : Open rubber flap on the opposite side of the body and remove 2 screws inside. Battery Compartment (Top): Open cover & remove screw located on top of battery housing. Bottom: Remove 1 screw near metal tripod socket (the one securing the casing frame).

Turn the camera so the battery compartment is facing uppermost (pointing upward). Grip the front and back plastic halves of the camera body. Gently and slowly ease the front and back pieces apart by about 3mm. *Note: Do not pull them entirely apart, as you only need a slight gap to free the hinge.

With a 3mm gap opened up, gently ease out one of the plastic hinge lugs attached to the battery compartment lid. Free the door entirely from the camera body. Take your replacement door and insert the lugs back into the loosened hinge slots.

Press the front and back camera halves firmly back together. Reinstall all six cross-head screws into their respective compartments.
