Sortir les balais à charbon de leur support de chaque côté du robot.

Dans le cas pris en photo, nous avons inséré le nouveau balai à charbon avec l'angle plat dans l'angle supérieur gauche du support.

Please check the real orientation by looking inside of the hole through a flashlight. The flattened corner is not always face upper left . At least for my 5 quarter machine bought in 2008. I am installing the two brush using the “upper left ”and found that it is not spinning. I even suspect the phase control board. Then I figured out the correct orientation by looking through the square shaped hole, there is a tiny copper block stays at a corner. Need to put the flattened corner facing this corner.

Replaced Circuit Board and Phaser control, and the 2 brushes. Nothing. then I saw this article. Yep, had a brush that I needed to spin 180 and face bottom right. Works great now. Thanks

Thanks for all comments! I cleaned my machine and panicked when it wouldn't start afterwards. So I searched and couldn't find a solution... so I searched under "won't start" and found this info. An answer to my prayers! For those, like me, you have to scrutinize the very end of the hole and you'll notice that one corner is a little different, a little thingy that can be hard to miss. That is where you want the flat corner of the part to go. It took me a couple of tries but I finally got the correct orientation and it started. Yay!
Thank you hyczp and drcook!! Your tips were the answer for me. I was having a hard time seeing into the little square shaped hole with a flashlight though, so I got a toothpick and angled it so that the pointy tip was directly in one of the corners, and then slid it in as far as it would go. I repeated this with the other three corners. One of the corners will have that “little thingy” in it which will prevent the toothpick from sliding all the way in. That’s the magic corner and the one where the flattened corner of the motor brush will go.
What if i turned it on and it sparked out the bushing 🙄

i looked at the brushes , they are fairly new hardly any wear ,put them back in no power , still wont start ,is there something i could have unhooked while putting in the worm gear , followed all instructions , gears turn perfect , still no power ,
Hi Dennis, it is mentioned above " Be sure to insert the new brush with that flattened corner facing the upper left corner of the brush holder." However, on my mixer only one brush must be aligned upper left; the other brush must actually be aligned down right. Look into the slots with a flashlight, you will see which corner has a small metallic piece, or "stop". That's the corner you must align your brush on. Hope this helps..

Hello patfat, you are exactly right on those brushes. I been working on this used mixer I got off Ebay for 56 dollars. It ran but I tooK it all apart and cleaned and painted and got some new parts and it would not start. The brush thing is right, one brush upper left and the other one bottom right. I got her fired up and it looks like banana nut muffin time again. Heres one for you.....! You the boss.....
OMG OMG OMG! You are an angel! I scored this brand new looking Kitchenaid mixer at a Goodwill for $3 dollars. Said whaaat? I grabbed it but when I tried it, it would not turn on. This information was crucial to fixing my mixer. My husband replaced a broken worm gear and my mixer STILL wouldn't start. With the aid of my cell phone camera, which allowed us to increase the size of the photo, we were able to determine which side was upper left and which side was lower right. And when my mixer came on, I yelled and jumped up and down. Thank you!
Best advice! My mixer would not turn off, so I followed another tutorial to fix that problem. unfortunately I took the motor brushes off. Thinking I had fried my mixer I found this site. Using the light from my phone I located the copper corner inside the hole, once reinstalled correctly, machine is running again.
How do I get the motor brush out if it gets stuck?!
Thank you !! I had given my mixer a thorough cleaning, including taking off the screws. Next time I went to use it, it wouldn't turn on (: Sure enough, inserting those pesky brushes correctly did the trick. Good for another 25 years (although I really want a candy apple red one).
I cannot wait to tackle this fix. I have a Kitchen aid Stand mixer that I have had since 1983. I did not use it that much but it quit in the late1990s. It has been in the closet ever since. My husband has tried to get me to throw it out several times and I refuse. I cannot wait to fix it. Thank you so much, I hope this is my problem.
One of the brushes in my dead mixer was in so tight there was no getting it out. I finally drilled a self-tapping screw into it and pulled it out. Replaced the brushes and now it runs but it’s terribly noisy. Any body have a suggestion on where to go from here?

today was cleaning my mixer was leaking oil, I remove both brushes but forgot to unplug and when insert one brush burned with smoke came out and doesn’t want to work anymore what should I do?

FYI. my wife’s mixer suddenly quit working, sounded electrical, so I ordered new brushes. Nope, still wouldn’t work. So I took the back off and discovered a wire/wire connector was broken. I soldered it back on and “success”! My point is, if it’s not the brushes, make sure you check your connectors in the back. The entire board moves when changing speeds, so over time the wires may break. My wife is quite happy, and that makes me happy!
You guys are spot on! I received this mixer and immediately took it apart to give it a good cleaning. Because I did not know any better I took out one of the brushes to see what it was. I put it back with all the other parts and then the mixer did not work. Well…fast forward to now. Boom! My wife thinks I am awesome again :)
We feel confident that we replaced the brushes correctly . The mixer still doesn’ turn on. What else could be the problem?

AWESOME! I took mine apart to re-paint and when I reassembled it wouldn’t work. I was about to throw it away when I read these comments and the problem was one of the brushes was installed incorrectly as mentioned above. Works perfectly now!

Yep! Once you understand the “Little Thingy" thing, it's quite easy to get running. I thought it was a goner but this fix it site was a huge help!

I cannot tell which direction the brushes go in my mixer. It's a very old one from 1990 I believe. I'm going to look further on YouTube to see if there's a close up of what that looks like when the brush is taken out. Better pictures would have been easier.

Just take a toothstick and slide it along the four corners oft the hole. You can easily feel where the obstacle is.
